Our History
It was the distant year of 1991 in an Ericeira that is no longer the same as it is today, and Pizzeria Pão d'Alho was born. It was conceived and designed with great expectation, hard work and a certain amount of courage by us, Luis and Dadi. Having returned from our work experiences outside Portugal, we wanted to shake things up in Ericeira and innovate with a pizza business, which for the time was unusual and too risky, some people said. It was no easy task to keep Pão d'Alho successful for all these years, but those who dedicate themselves are always rewarded.

Pão d'Alho quickly became an obvious meeting point for the locals, and we saw (and participated in!) many carnivals, New Year's Eves, stag and hen parties, and family and friends' get-togethers. We managed to balance everything, we had two wonderful children who now work with us, and we always enjoyed life inside and outside Pão d'Alho.

Surfing has always been a part of our family lifestyle. We've lost count of the number of surfs we've had between the opening and closing of the beach.
Pizzeria and the number of times we worked with sand on our feet and salt on our skin. The original surfing championships in the 90s, family holidays on the coast of Portugal, participating in the first steps of surfing as a competitive sport… we’ve experienced it all. Anyone who has visited us will quickly understand our passion for surfing!
